Van Wert, OH – Five Injured in Pileup Crash at OH-116 & Middle Point Rd
Van Wert, OH (August 21, 2020) – There were five reported injuries following a multi-vehicle collision east of Van Wert on Tuesday afternoon, August 18. The crash occurred near the intersection of OH-116 and Middle Point Road at around 3:30 p.m.
Reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol revealed that a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling west on Middle Point Road at the time of the crash. The Tahoe failed to at a stop sign and collided with a Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling south on Jennings Road.
The Tahoe proceeded to strike a third vehicle stopped at the intersection before traveling off the roadway and overturning. The F-150 also left the roadway and overturned. All three drivers sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Two occupants of the Tahoe were transported ty helicopter to another medical facility. No further updates on the crash are currently available.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
