Sycamore, OH – Russell Dodd Killed in Semi-Truck Crash on I-71
Sycamore, OH (September 11, 2020) – A Delhi Township man was killed after being involved in a collision with a semi-truck near Sycamore Township on Wednesday afternoon, September 9, on Interstate 71 NB.
Initial reports from the Hamilton County Sherrif’s Office revealed that the collision occurred at around 4:50 p.m. near milepost 11.9. At the time of the accident, 29-year-old Brit Smith of Batesville, Mississippi was stopped on the side of the highway in a semi tractor-trailer. For unknown reasons, a Chevrolet Equinox traveled onto the right shoulder and collided with the rear of the semi.
The driver of the Equinox was identified as 57-year-old Russell Dodd of Delhi Township, Ohio. Dodd reportedly had struck the walla long the right shoulder multiple times before the crash. Responding paramedics pronounced Dodd dead at the scene. No further information on the crash has been reported at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.
