Intersection Crashes in Ohio
Intersections are a hotspot for serious crashes across Ohio. Despite making up a minority of roadways in the United States, intersections are the location of nearly 40% of reported car accidents each year. According to the Federal Highway Administration, there are more than 2.5 million intersection collisions reportedly annually, accounting for roughly 50% of collisions resulting in injuries. Each year, hundreds of people are killed in red-light collisions. There were 846 confirmed fatalities involving red-light runners in 2018.
In Ohio, other drivers owe a duty to use reasonable care when operating a motor vehicle. Unfortunately, many drivers in the state breach this duty and cause catastrophic car accidents.
